Janesville, Wisc.- Myrtle V. Burgess, 92, of Janesville, formerly of Rock Falls, died on Saturday, May 25, 2019 in Janesville.

Born on June 23, 1926 in Chilhowie, Virginia, she was a daughter of Coy Monroe and Lula (Harris) Porter. She married George E. Burgess on June 27, 1947 in Chilhowie. He passed away on March 1, 1988. Myrtle was a member of the Lincoln Avenue Church of God in Dixon.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Darlene (Sam) King, of Oregon, Wisc. and Rhoda (Robert) Riggs of Janesville, Wisc.; her sons, Coy H. (Carol) Burgess of Dixon, Roy (Sharon) Burgess of Sterling and Randy (Amy) Burgess of Glenview; her sisters, Mary Tucker and Sarah Orrender, both of Sterling; her brothers, Harold (Carol) Porter of Chilhowie, Virginia, Robert Lee (Mary) Porter of Rock Falls and William (Betty) Porter of Rock Falls; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

She is reunited in heaven with her husband, her parents, a son Jerry Burgess, 3 grandsons, Skip King, James Riggs and Jeff Burgess; 5 brothers, Tom, James, Monroe, Clinton and John Porter; 3 sisters, Mildred Dowell, Helen Duncan and Ann Porter.

Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The funeral will be on Thursday at 10 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Scott Porter, officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling. A memorial has been established to Lincoln Avenue Church of God.
