Carol L. Creekpaum, born February 27, 1945 in Mt. Carroll to Lawrence and Mary Lego, peacefully passed away November 24, 2016 at St. Anthony's in Rockford surrounded by her children.
She married James Cox in 1963; they had two daughters. She later married Walter Creekpaum in Rock Falls in 1967, where they raised six children together. He preceded her in death in December of 2011. During her life, she worked for the City of Rock Falls as a school crossing guard. She graduated from Oregon High School in 1963.
Survivors include her children, Leon (Audrey) Creekpaum, Oklahoma, Sheri (Joseph) Sheley, Wendy (Teray) Boyer of Sterling, Jennifer (Marcus) Holloway, Milwaukee, and Theresa Dye, Kentucky. She has 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She also loved and cherished her furry baby, Missy. She is also is survived by her two sisters, Evelyn (Robert) Plock and Gladys Highland of Lanark and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, two daughters, Dorothy and Cindy Creekpaum, sister, Betty Sturtz.
Carol was the neighborhood coffee and cookie lady. She crocheted baby blankets for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Many conversations with friends and family were had at the kitchen table. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 27, 2016 from 1:00-3:00 P.M. at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Funeral service will Monday, November 28, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
