Celestina "Celeste" Marie Serafin, age 64 of Sterling, died Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at her home.
Celeste was born on June 26, 1955 in Wheeling, West Virginia, the daughter of George and Anna (Warmus) Serafin. She worked as a pharmacy technician for various pharmaceutical jobs and then she worked at the Whiteside County Senior Center for many years. Celeste was a devout Catholic and a very involved member of her church at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sterling. She had made her promises as a member of The Holy Innocents Community of The Secular Discalced Carmelites.
Survivors include two sisters, Christina (Steve) Sandin of Sycamore, IL and Justina Serafin of Farnham, VA; three brothers, Gregory (Nancy) Serafin, Sr. of Belvidere, IL, Andrew (Tammy) Serafin, Sr. of Maple Park, IL and Anthony (Carol) Serafin of Genoa, IL; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and one great, great niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sterling. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. at the church with Reverend Bruce Ludeke Celebrant officiating. Graveside service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Elgin, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to The Holy Innocents Community of Rockford.
