Evelyn Bay, 81, of Rockford formerly of Rock Falls, passed away unexpectedly Friday June 7, 2019

Evelyn was born on October 5th, 1937. After graduating from Rock Falls High School and Western Illinois University, she entered a career in teaching. She spent most of that career teaching Math at East Coloma School in Rock Falls. On July 15th, 1961 she married the love of her life Robert Bay. Evelyn was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan as well as rooting for the Cubs and the Blackhawks.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Perle and Marie (Henry) Martin, and her husband Robert H Bay; her sisters Margaret Nester and Delores Martin; her brothers Edward, Douglas and Gary Martin; and her nephew Christopher Davis; her brother in laws Darrel Davis, Paul Bay; her sister in laws: Pauline Campbell and Helen (Frank) Hoyle.

Survivors include her sons, James (Laura) Bay of Baldwinsville NY, and Timothy (Christine) of Arlington Heights IL, five grandchildren: DeAnna, Michael, Charlie, Sam and Ellie; one great granddaughter, Riley; two sisters: Judy Davis of Batavia and Carolyn (Michael) Quinn of Las Vegas, NV; two brothers: Donald and Steve of Chicago; her brother in law Frank Nester of Mount Carroll; and her sister in law Patricia Bay of Dixon; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday June 14, 2019 from 9 – 10:45 AM followed by the funeral at 11 AM at New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling, followed by a luncheon. Burial will conclude at 2 PM at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.

Memorials in her memory may be made to the Rock Falls Public Library and to New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling.
