STERLING – Rita Beatty, age 91, died Monday, August 7, 2017 at Heritage Woods in Sterling.
Rita was born in Sterling on September 15, 1925 the daughter of William J. and Mildred (Bates) Murphy. She married Albert J. Beatty on February 7, 1948 in Sterling. He died September 2, 2003. Rita was a homemaker and enjoyed attending daily Mass at St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Savannah, Ga. where she and her husband lived for many years. She was an avid reader and loved to play Bridge.
Survivors include, three daughters, Kimberly (Richard) Brown of Ocean City, Md., Julia (Howard) Jones of Rock Falls and Grace (George) Ruopp of Deerfield; one brother, William (Mary Kay) Murphy of LaGrange; one sister-in-law, Jean Aubrey of Gaithersburg, Md.; five grandchildren, Margaret Butler Brown, Richard Winfield Brown III, Nora Murphy Hughes, Erin Elizabeth Hughes and Caroline Grace Hughes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Brooke Beatty Becker, two sisters, Mary Ellen Lendman and Patsy Dillenbeck; brother-in-law George Beatty.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, August 20, 2017 at East Jordon Cemetery, Sterling with Reverend James Keenan of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiating. Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
