Ronald Dewayne Young, age 75 of Rock Falls, died Saturday, February 18, 2017 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Ron was born October 14, 1941 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Howard and Pauline Young. He is a United States Marine Corps Veteran. Ron married Anna Ordean on August 8, 1965 in Rock Falls. He was employed by Northwestern Steel and Wire as an electrician for 28.5 years. Ron was a member of the Tampico American Legion and Sterling/Rock Falls Jaycee's. He loved gardening and cooking. He was an avid reader and enjoyed engraving as a hobby. Ron was a member of New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling.

Survivors include his wife, Anna; one son, Erik (Christina) Young of Rock Falls; one daughter, Heather Young of Rock Falls; two granddaughters, Victoria Johnson and Emily Young; one great grandson, Riley Mattox; two sisters, Lorraine Dawdy of Ill. and Madonna (Ron) Blackburn of Wis.; his cousin, Elmer Ray Young of Mich.; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Kay Green and Viola Peterson.

A gathering of family and friends will be on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling. Memorial service will be Wednesday, February 22, at 11:00 A.M. with an hour gathering prior to the service at the church with Reverend William Sullivan, officiating. Full Military honors will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
