CHADWICK – Virginia Finkle, age 93, died Friday March 27, 2015 at CGH Medical Center, Sterling.
Virginia was born on February 4, 1922 in Gilmore City, Iowa the daughter of James and Clara (Beach) Wombwell. She married Elwood Finkle on January 13, 1946 in Dixon. He died December 31, 2003. Virginia was a homemaker and lifelong member of Coleta United Methodist Church, Coleta. Virginia was an avid pie baker and she and Elwood farmed outside of Coleta all of their lives.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara (Jerry) Leech of Chadwick, Terri (Rick) Lund of Sterling and Cheri (Dan) Mizaur of Sherrard; one son, Lamont Finkle of Wichita, Kan.; thirteen grandchildren, Shelly (Roy) Kappes of Chadwick, Jeff Leech of Bettendorf, Iowa, Kyle (Betsy) Leech of Milledgeville, Michael (Jamie) Leech of Dixon, Hillary Plog of Rock Island, Jevon Plog of Chicago, Maggie Plog of Deer Grove, Derek Mizaur of Dubuque, Iowa, Madelyn Mizaur, Dylan Mizaur both of Sherrard, Wrylie Finkle, Tehya Finkle and Jamie Finkle all of Wichita, Kan.; two step grandchildren, Jennifer (Tim) VanZant of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Kymberly (Kent) Lund of Fraser, Colo.; seven great grandchildren, Brooke, Blake, Blayne, Landyn, Kinsley, Izabella and Eleanor; four step-great grandchildren, Leah, Eric, Colvin and Virgil.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister.
Gathering of family and friends will be Saturday April 4, 2015 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Coleta United Methodist Church, Coleta. Memorial service will follow at 12:00 PM with Reverend David Jungnickle and Reverend John Kermott co-officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls.
